Chris’s first solo album in fifteen years. (Yes, it really was that long ago - Chris Newman Two appeared in 1983!) Fretwork is mainly Chris’s own fresh and melodic compositions (including the recent much-requested Albatross Waltz) - some exhibiting his trademark virtuosity, some a touching lyricism - but there are also traditional pieces, including Scott Skinner’s Mathematician (he’s been stunning live audiences with this for the past five years!) Guesting on the album are Máire Ní Chathasaigh on piano, Irish harp & tin-whistle and Máire’s sister Nollaig on violins.
